Albania announce Euro 2024 squad
Sylvinho names 26-man party for summer tournament
Former Arsenal and Barcelona left-back to lead Albania at major finals
Albania have announced their 26-man squad for Euro 2024, with former Arsenal and Barcelona left-back Sylvinho naming a mix of experience and youth for the summer tournament.
Sylvinho, who took over as Albania manager in 2022, has included a number of players who were part of the squad that reached the last 16 of Euro 2016, including captain Lorik Cana, goalkeeper Etrit Berisha and striker Sokol Cikalleshi.
However, there are also a number of new faces in the squad, including uncapped midfielder Kristjan Asllani and defender Marash Kumbulla. Asllani has been in impressive form for Serie A side Empoli this season, while Kumbulla has made a name for himself at Roma.
Albania have been drawn in Group A for Euro 2024, alongside hosts Germany, Portugal and Hungary. They will begin their campaign against Portugal on June 14.
