Rublev Roland Garros

Andrey Rublev survives scare to reach Roland-Garros second round

Russian fights back from a set down to beat Taro Daniel in Paris

The seventh seed looked in trouble when he lost the first set to the Japanese qualifier but responded with three straight sets to win 4-6 6-3 6-2 6-3.

Rublev will now face Pedro Martinez in the second round. The Spaniard, ranked 53rd in the world, reached the third round at Roland Garros last year.

Rublev is a two-time Grand Slam quarter-finalist but is yet to reach the semi-finals of a major. He will be hoping to make a deep run in Paris this year and improve on his best result at the French Open.

The Russian is one of the most in-form players on the ATP Tour this year. He has won three titles in 2024, including the Monte-Carlo Masters. He is also a former winner of the Miami Open and the Cincinnati Masters.

Rublev will be one of the favorites to win the Roland-Garros title this year. He is a powerful hitter with a big serve and a strong forehand. He is also a good mover and has a great attitude on the court.

If Rublev can maintain his form, he will be a tough opponent for anyone in Paris. He has the potential to win his first Grand Slam title and become one of the best players in the world.
