American gymnast Jade Carey wins first Olympic medal

Carey's 14.366 score brings home gold for the United States

American gymnast Jade Carey has won the gold medal in the floor exercise final at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. The 21-year-old gymnast nailed all four of her tumbling passes and earned a score of 14.366, edging out Vanessa Ferrari of Italy, who won silver, and Mai Murakami of Japan, who won bronze.

This is Carey's first Olympic medal and a significant victory for Team USA. Carey was a member of the U.S. team that won a silver medal in the team competition earlier in the Games.

In the floor exercise final, Carey performed a difficult routine that included a triple-twisting double backflip and a double-twisting Yurchenko. She was the only gymnast in the final to perform two triple-twisting skills.

Carey's victory is a testament to her hard work and determination. She has overcome several injuries in recent years, including a torn ACL in 2018. She is now one of the top gymnasts in the world and has a bright future ahead of her.
