180MW Phase 1 Project to Pioneer Floating Offshore Wind Power Development

Taipei, Taiwan - 7th August 2024

BlueFloat Energy has unveiled the site location for its groundbreaking Winds of September Phase 1 offshore wind project in Taiwan. The 180MW project will serve as a beacon for Taiwan's leadership in the development and deployment of floating offshore wind power.

The Winds of September site is strategically positioned to harness Taiwan's abundant offshore wind resources. It is designed to utilize advanced floating wind turbine technology, enabling the project to be installed in deeper waters. The first phase of the project will involve the installation of 18 floating wind turbines, each with a capacity of 10MW.

BlueFloat Energy's entry into the Taiwanese offshore wind market underscores the growing importance of this sector. The project will contribute to Taiwan's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and transitioning to a clean energy future. The collaboration between BlueFloat Energy and the Metal Industries Research Development Centre (MIRDC) demonstrates the strong support for the development of floating offshore wind power in Taiwan.
